So far 66 Covid-95 infections have been found in a cluster at Hong Kong’s largest container terminal facility. Wang Kee Port Operations in Kwai Tsing has been linked to more than 40 infections.

The latest cluster of infections is being linked to transmission in windowless dorms that are shared by up to 20 workers in breaks in long shifts according to a report in the South China Morning Post. In Singapore the majority of infections have been linked to large clusters in foreign worker dormitories, which has hit the city state's shipyard sector.

University of Hong Kong microbiologist Professor Yuen Kwok-yung, told a local radio programmed, “It is very likely the outbreak at Kwai Tsing Container Terminals was also caused by contact between port workers and crew members.”

Hong Kong has been battled a third wave of infections which have been blamed on exemptions from quarantine and testing for groups such as seafarers and air crew.

Kwai Tsing Container Terminals comprises nine container terminals and 24 berths.
