Ningbo-Zhoushan port steady after COVID closes terminal

The world’s busiest cargo handling port, Ningbo Zhoushan port, maintained stable operation after one Delta variant infection was reported on 11 August at its Meidong terminal.

According to the operation updates of Ningbo Zhoushan port, the port completed the container volume of 85,000 teu, 64,000 teu and 77,000 teu during 11 and 13 August. The average day container throughput of the three days was more than 75,000 teu, equivalent to 90% of daily container throughput at Ningbo Zhoushan port in July. 

Currently, the other terminals at Ningbo Zhoushan port maintained the normal operation expect for Meidong terminal. 

During the period of January and July, Ningbo Zhoushan port posted a cargo throughput of 718m tons, an increase of 5.6% year on year, while the container volume was 18.68m teu, up 17.1%.
