Slated to begin operations in the third quarter of 2016, the new terminal, dubbed KAP RORO, is the first in Saudi Arabia to be exclusively dedicated to ro-ro cargoes, and further, NYK’s first automotive logistics base in the Middle East.

Owned by PDC, which opened a container terminal there in 2014, the new development at KAP will be capable of handling 600,000 handling units annually.

“NYK Group will continue to take advantage of the creative solutions initiated in the company’s ‘More Than Shipping 2018’ medium-term management plan to provide advanced automotive logistics services in order to respond to customers’ demands in the Middle East region, where continual economic growth is expected,” said the Group in a statement.
