Pelindo III to start trial runs at Teluk Lamong port in May

Indonesia's Pelindo III is set to begin trial operations at its new IDR3.4trn ($299m) Teluk Lamong multipurpose terminal in East Java next month.

Pelindo III president director Djarwo Surjanto said that two units of Ship to Shore Crane (STS), five units of Automated Stacking Crane (ASC), and one unit of Automotive Terminal Tractor (ATT) were scheduled to arrive between the end of April and early May.

"The equipment is on the way from countries such as China, Spain, Finland, France and Romania," Djarwo said in a press release, adding that the trial operations would be carried out in mid-May.

He said that other installation equipment, such as cables, optic fiber lines, and terminal supporting equipment had arrived in Surabaya and were currently going through steps to get clearance at Tanjung Perak Port's custom and excise office.

Teluk Lamong is meant to alleviate pressure at East Java's hub port of Tanjung Perak Port, which has is at capacity.
