Yantian International Container Terminal back in full operationYantian International Container Terminal back in full operation
Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) is back in full operations handling roughly 40,000 teu per day.
After a month-long effort fighting against the Covid-19 outbreak, the port has fully returned to the normal operations. The closure of a majority of the terminal’s operations from 21 May had caused major disruptions to global container shipping.
Since from 24 June, Yantian has resumed operations at all its 20 berths, according to Hutchison Ports. Now it handles approximately 40,000teu containers and about 20,000 tractors at the gatehouse on a daily basis, both of which have returned to normal levels.
The terminal operator said all major shipping lines have resumed their vessel calls at Yantian.
Last month, Yantian received 18 new RTGCs, eight of which are automated and remote-controlled ones. The new generation of quay cranes are conducive to promoting the safety and stability of port operation at Yantian.
In June, Yantian saw three new international services and will have three more new services in July.
