With a total investment of RMB10.9bn, the new expansion project will be located at the east operation area of Yantian, with three large-size container berths. The new berths will have an annual design capacity of 3m teu, which can further improve container handling capacity of Yantian port along with its west and central operation areas, and strengthen Yantian’s leading position among global container terminals.

The east operation terminal project will highlight automation and intelligence, and  is going to be equipped with most advanced port cranes manufactured by Zhenhua Heavy Industry to greatly improve the handling efficiency of the new terminal.

During January and November this year, Yantian port posted a container volume of 12.49m teu, accounting for 46.5% of the total container throughput of Shenzhen port.
