In a customer update, ONE said that the vessel had arrived and berthed at Charleston and is expected to depart on January 31 following necessary inspections and cargo discharge. Madrid Bridge is then due to call Savannah on January 31, Norfolk on February 5, New York on February 7 and Singapore on March 8.
On January 7, Madrid Bridge was in the North Atlantic on its way to New York when a stack collapse sent 60 containers overboard and damaged a further 80 containers.
The incident is the latest in a series of recent container collapses which have raised concerns over stack heights and safety. The ONE Apus lost 1,816 containers in the Pacific in late 2020, and the Maersk Essen lost 750 containers overboard, also in the Pacific, in January 2021.
