The news follows the crane’s first assignment earlier this year, when together with Asian Hercules II, AsianHercules III carried out a tandem lift for the 5,300 tonne upper hull of an accommodation semisubmersible being constructed at Keppel FELS.
The self-propelled crane, the fifth in Asian Lift’s contingent of sheerlegs, can haul up to 5,000 tonnes to heights of 120 m. Built at Keppel Nantong Shipyard, the 106 m long and 52 m wide vessel was delivered with a perfect safety record of no lost-time incident.
Keppel O&M ceo and chairman of Asian Lift Chow Yew Yuen said: "Asian Hercules III is a reflection of how Asian Lift has grown from strength to strength since Keppel and Smit forged a strategic partnership to form the jv 30 years ago. Today, Asian Lift is known for its unparalleled lifting capabilities. We are confident that Asian Hercules III will help to broaden Asian Lift’s coverage and opportunities beyond its traditional markets to include offshore installations and decommissioning work, and to also further its reach into international markets.
“At Keppel O&M, we will also benefit from Asian Lift’s expanded capabilities as the company continues to contribute to our quality execution of projects ranging from the construction of high specification rigs to ship conversions and specialised shipbuilding.”
Asian Hercules III joins the other sheerleg vessels in Asian Lift's fleet, including 400 tonne Asian Helping Hand lll, 1,600 tonne Asian Hercules and 3,200 tonne Asian Hercules II.
