Busan achieves throughput growth in February
Busan: South Korea's main seaport Busan posted a 14.1% year-on-year rise in container throughput in February, according to figures from the ministry of land, transport and maritime affairs.

February's higher throughput at 1.67m teu was due to seasonal factors such as increasing work days compared to the February of 2011, and steady increase of transhipment cargo and import/export cargo volumes.

Last month's throughput also improved from 1.36m teu recorded in January 2012.

In the first two months of this year, Busan port handled 3.03m teu of boxes. Last year, the East Asian port moved a total throughput of 16.2m teu, representing a 14% year-on-year growth.
