Hamburg: The latest addition to the Cosco fleet, Cosco Germany, was named in Hamburg earlier this week by ambassadorial counsellor Zhu Yiqing, wife of the Chinese ambassador to Germany, Ma Canrong. The 8,204teu new container ship, built at Hyundai Samho, is on long-term charter to Cosco from German KG shipowner and financier, Nordcapital, and represents the latter's 100th shipping fund. Nordcapital has to date chartered some 18 boxships to Chinese liner companies. These include OOCL, CSCL and Cosco, which since 2004 has received eight 'super-postpanamax' ships (7,500 and 8,200teu) from the KG house. The new Cosco Germany will operate in the line's AE-1 Service between Europe and Asia. [01/09/06]
