Evergreen in second billion order at Samsung Heavy Industries

Taipei: Evergreen Marine has placed a second $1bn boxship order at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). The Taiwanese line said it had contracted SHI to build ten 8,000 teu containerships at a cost of $1.03bn. The vessels will be delivered from 2013 and seven will be owned by Evergreen Marine and in Taiwan and three by Panama-registered Evergreen International. Evergreen ordered 10 similar newbuildings from SHI earlier this year with deliveries from 2012. [29/09/10]
