GTT to supply containment systems for Yamal LNG vessels

GTT to supply containment systems for Yamal LNG vessels
GTT has received a major order for LNG containment systems to be installed on nine icebreaking LNG carriers under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering for Russia's Yamal LNG project.

Three of the six new ships, the first ice-breaking LNG carriers ever ordered, will be owned jointly by Teekay LNG Partners & China LNG and three others will be owned jointly by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) & China Shipping LNG. Each will be supplied with NO 96 membrane technology “perfectly adapted to this type of difficult environment,” according to Philippe Berterottière, GTT chairman and ceo.

“We are very proud of having succeeded in convincing the various partners in this project,” he added. Once delivered, scheduled between2017 and 2019, the vessels will operate on routes between the Yamal LNG liquefaction production plant, in Northwest Russia, and Northeast Asia.

The orders will no doubt have contributed to GTT’s strong growth in the first half of 2014, with a 20% year-on-year improvement in revenue – from EUR95.7m ($129m) to EUR114.9m – and an 18% rise in profits, to EUR58.9m from EUR49.9m.
