MOL sets up barge terminal jv in Bangkok
Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) is to set up a barge terminal operation in Bangkok, Thailand in joint venture with a local partner.

The Japanese shipowner has signed a joint venture agreement with SahaThai Terminal to establish a joint venture called Bangkok Barge Terminal (BBT) BBT will set up a new barge terminal in Bangkok for transport of container to and from Thailand’s main gateway port Laem Chabang some 90 km away.

The terminal is expected to be operational in 2016.

“MOL has moved proactively to expand its businesses including container terminal operation at Laem Chabang Port, warehousing, trucking, and container and truck depot operation, providing a full range of high-quality services,” MOL said.

“With the addition of BBT to its service menu, MOL will provide further diversified, higher quality services tailored to customer needs.”
