Sovcomflot's (SCF Group) Christophe de Margerie took just seven days and 17 hours to sail from the port of Sabetta in the Yamal Peninsula to Cape Dezhnev in the Bering Strait, a distance of 2,360 nm. The vessel averaged a speed of 12.8 knots and the vogage by the Arc7 class LNG carrier.
The vessel berthed at Tangshan in China on 31 July just 18.5 days after leaving Yamal.
“This remarkable, safe passage across the NSR has required the crew’s utmost attention and concentration,” said Igor Tonkovidov, executive vice resident and coo/cto of SCF Group.
The 172,600 Christophe de Margerie is the first in a series of 15 icebreaking LNG carriers ordered for the Yamal LNG.
