Shanghai: The biggest FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) vessel ever built in China - and the first one to be designed locally - was successfully launched at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd (pictured) on Friday. Designed by SWS, the 300,000dwt vessel measures 323 metres in length x 63 metres in width x 71 metres in height and is able to load or offload 190,000 barrels of crude oil a day. It was built for ConocoPhillips China at a cost of $240m and will be used in the Penglai 19-3 heavy-crude field in the Bohai Sea. [11/12/06]
