The 50 m boats, currently under construction at Damen Vietnam, are equipped with Damen Sea Axe bows which Damen claims reduce slamming by 70% in heavy weather, and provide fuel consumption reduction of 18%, compared with conventional vessels.
The FCS 5009 is outfitted with a smart ventilation system for the Engine Room, leaving the aft deck free of ventilation ducts, reducing possible accidents when operating the onboard crane. Furthermore, the ergonomic lay-out of the bridge and the second helmsman seat at the aft steering position offer high visibility on the aft deck.
Delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for November 2013, while the second is slated for January 2014. The crew suppliers are the ninth and tenth of this type Damen has delivered to Naviera.
