NYK seals time-charter contract for new LNG carrier

NYK seals time-charter contract for new LNG carrier
Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has sealed a time-charter contract with Mitsui & Co for a new LNG carrier to work on the Cameron LNG project located in the US state of Louisiana.

The new 174,000 cu m ship will be delivered in 2018 and assigned to transport LNG under this project for a maximum of 25 years. The one-membrane-type LNG carrier will be owned by Tea Tree Shipping, wholly-owned subsidiary of NYK.

NYK said the latest deal is part of the group’s efforts to “contribute to stable and economical LNG transport services.”
