Tokyo: The New World Alliance (TNWA) - MOL, APL, and Hyundai Merchant Marine - are to join with member lines in the Grand Alliance in the transpacific trade - Hapag-Lloyd, NYK and OOCL - to offer a new Asia/US East Coast service via the Panama Canal from August this year. The alliances will contribute 3,500 teu vessels to a service with a 56-day rotation. For both, this is the third all-water offering through the Panama Canal. The service will call Shanghai, Chiwan, Shekou and Hong Kong in Asia and Norfolk and Savannah in the US. Manzanillo in Panama will be served on the eastbound leg. [28/07/06]
