Mumbai: Bharati Shipyard has signed a contract worth $64.8m to construct and supply a multipurpose offshore support vessel to India-based integrated offshore oilfield services provider Great Offshore. The vessel is to contain a diesel electric propulsion system of 10,500 kilowatts drawn from five generators. It will be fully-equipped to support diving/sub sea operations.
A spokesperson for Bharati Shipyard claimed that this was the first multipurpose offshore support vessel featuring such sophisticated and technology to be built in India.
The new contract was signed in lieu of a previous smaller agreement for construction of a $17.4m multipurpose offshore support vessel. [01/05/07]
