Bumi Armada Q1 profit up 9.3%, looking for new FPSO projects
Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian offshore oilfield services provider Bumi Armada reported a 9.3% rise in first quarter net profit to MYR89.7m ($28.5m) from MYR82.1m in the first quarter of 2011.

Revenue however fell to MYR335.1m from 376.2m previously. 

Bumi ceo Hassan Basma noted that the company picked up two OSV contracts from Petrobras during the quarter while work on its FPSO for ONGC, the Armada Sterling, is progressing well with over 50% completed.

Meanwhile its Apache field FPSO project, Armada Claire is also moving forward as planned, with shipyard conversion work set to begin later this month, he added.

Hassan was also reported as telling local media that Bumi has submitted four bids to develop marginal fields in offshore Malaysia. It has also bidded for five FPSO projects this year and hopes to secure at least two contracts, he added.
