Ceylon Shipping Lines seeks tanker purchase
Sri Lanka’s state-owned Ceylon Shipping Lines is planning to purchase one tanker to transport crude for Ceylon Petroleum Corp (CPC), local reports said.

The Sri Lankan government has given the go-ahead for Ceylon Shipping Lines to buy the tanker after the shipowner won a tender from CPC to transport crude, according to Lanka Business Online.

Ceylon Shipping Lines had earlier ordered two 63,000 dwt dry bulk carriers from Chinese yard Avic International Beijing Company, and deliveries are slated in 2015 and 2016.

Ceylon Shipping Lines has been transporting coal for Lanka Coal Company using contracted foreign ships since 2010.

The purchases of the ships are being financed by a loan from state-run People’s Bank.
