Chimbusco announced that it has installed MFM systems on some of its bunker tankers and operated them for both bonded and domestic supplies.
The bunker tanker, Chimbusco 36, made a domestic supply of marine fuel using MFM to vessel Shenhua 532 of Shenhua Zhonghai Shipping.
Chimbusco detailed that the bunkering operation took an hour to complete, with the bunker tanker recorded to supply 219.88 tonnes of fuel while the vessel received 219.68 tonnes, pointing to a 0.09% difference, much lower than the 0.5% difference if measured via the traditional manual tank dipping and sounding method.
Another bunker tanker Chimbusco 38 also completed a supply of 745 tonnes of bonded 380 cst bunker grade to 28,219-dwt bulk carrier King Corn at Lanshan port.
“Chimbusco 36 and Chimbusco 38 successfully made their debut with MFM, and laid a foundation for promoting fuel supplies using MFM,” Chimbusco stated.
Elsewhere in Singapore, the world’s largest bunkering port, the local port authority will enforce the use of MFM for bunkering from 1 January 2017. As at May 2016, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) informed that 76 out of a total of 226 Singapore-registered bunker tankers have been equipped with MFM.
