The 73,630-dwt, 21 years old Pacific Prospect, built at Japan’s Oshima Shipbuilding in 1993, was sent to Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company on 2 July for recycling.
The elderly bulker was sold for RMB19.74m ($3.18m), CMES said told the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The Chinese tanker and bulker owner had announced in late-June that it plans to sell or scrap eight elderly dry bulk carriers over the next one year. The company is also clearing out its aging oil tankers, especially those that are 20 years old and above.
