Shanghai: Chongqing, the world's largest municipality, is set to get the largest shipyard in western China after China Changjiang National Shipping Group recently invested RMB 267m in construction of a yard there.
The project is expected to establish a 240,000 dwt per annum shipbuilding capacity by 2010, allowing it to become Southwest China's largest ship export base.Dredging up the Yangtze will allow ships of up to 10,000 dwt to call at Chongqing soon. [13/07/07]
