Shanghai: Chongqing Municipality's shipbuilding industry exported 189,500 dwt of ships in the first quarter of 2008, setting a new quarterly high for the area in the upper reaches of the Yangtze, some 200km from the epicentre of yesterday's huge earthquake. The most significant order came at Chuandong Shipyard, which signed an agreement with Odfjell Asia Co., Ltd. on the construction of 10 units of 9,000 dwt stainless steel chemicals ships, with the contractual value set at $300m.
