Shanghai: Chinese Maritime Transport Ltd (CMT) has ordered a new 206,000 tonne Capesize bulk carrier from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard. The deal costs $65.3m - 40% less than a similar vessel reviously ordered by CMT.
The new vessel, ordered through CMT subsidiary-China Partners Shipping Ltd, is scheduled to be delivered in the first quarter of 2013. Besides this newbuild, Waigaoqiao shipyard is also building another 175,000 tonne Capesize bulk carrier for CMT that will be delivered in the second quarter of 2012.
Listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1994, CMT owns and operates a fleet of 6 owned Capesizes through its subsidiaries in Hong Kong and Singapore. [13/04/10]
