Manila: The International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund has said that victims of Solar 1, the Philippines' worst ever oil spill, will be able to claim up to $315m in compensation, according to local press reports. The vessel sank off the coast of the Guimaras province on August 11 carrying some 2m litres of bunker fuel belonging to charterer Petron Corp, some 350,000 litres of which was estimated to have spilled before the wreck was located on the seabed two weeks later.
