Beijing: China's first domestically built liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel is currently under construction by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation and is to be delivered in September. The ship (pictured) is the first step taken by the Chinese shipbuilding industry to meet the growing demand for LNG vessels and is expected to set off a spate of similar newbuilds in shipyards around the country.
In 2006, CSSC manufactured 103 new ships with a cumulative 6.02million dwt and boasts an orderbook of 30m dwt worth an estimated $19.2 trillion. [19/02/07]
