Da Chan Bay Terminal One's first batch of equipment delivered

Hong Kong: Da Chan Bay Terminal One took delivery of the first dual-hoist tandem-lift quay crane (QC) and 6 electrical rubber-tyred gantry cranes (eRTGs) which disembarked on its quay deck today.
This is the first batch of advanced equipment ordered from Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co. Ltd, who will deliver another 7 dual-hoist tandem-lift QCs and 14 eRTGs in batches within a month.  Four more QCs and 10 more eRTGs will arrive in 2008, aligning with the staged development of the terminal.
Da Chan Bay Terminal One is situated in the Western Shenzhen Port area in South China. Sixty-five percent of its shares are held by Modern Terminals Limited, the longest-established container terminal operator in Hong Kong.  The other 35 percent of its shares have been taken up by Shenzhen Dachan Bay Port Investment and Development Co., Ltd. under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shenzhen Municipal Government.
Da Chan Bay Terminal One covers an area of 112 hectares with 5 berths along its quayside of 1,830 metres and 600 metres wide.  The terminal is scheduled to commence operations with its first two berths at the end of 2007.  The other three berths will be ready for use in 2008.  Its quay depth is initially 15.5 metres and will be dredged up to 18 metres in the future.  [07/08/07]
