It said MCC Transport's SVN2 service has started calling at the facility on the following port rotation of: Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai and SPCT). MCC is the intra-Asia subsidiary of Maersk Line.
The Saigon terminal has also started receiving vessels deployed on Gold Star Line's CVX service. The port rotation for the CVX is: Hong Kong, Shanghai (Yangshan/Waigaoqiao), Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai), Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Port Klang, Singapore, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai and SPCT). Gold Star is a Hong Kong based subsidiary of ZIM Lines.
The report added that in the first nine months of 2009, Ho Chi Minh City ports, including the newly opened facilities at Cai Mep, handled 2.5 million teu, a decrease of three per cent compared to the same period last year.
DP World's Saigon facility opened in October, one of a raft of new terminals coming onstream this year in southern Vietnam. [15/12/09]
