Commodore Research and Consultancy said 133 vessels were chartered last week the fourth week running more than 120 vessels were chartered. The last time this happened was in the four week period from ending 26 November 2010 to 17 December 2010.
“With global cargo demand remaining firm, panamax, supramax, and handysize rates have been able to find continued support. Capesize rates have remained under pressure, however, due to the overwhelming supply of capesize vessels that remain available in the spot market,” Commodore said in note to clients.
