Dubai: Emirates Shipping Line has recently announced that its operations have grown by 30% since its inception in 2006; with its success attributed to the eight new services launched during the previous twelve months, local media in Dubai reported.
As a result, the company, which is registered in Dubai Maritime City and commercially headquartered in Dubai and Hong Kong, is on track to double its container capacity within the next two years and boost its agency network, which currently spans more than 40 countries.
The announcement comes only weeks after the company's CEO and Chairman - Vikas Khan - received the 'Personality of the Year' Award by Dubai Ports World at the Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards 2007, which were held recently in Dubai. The Personality of the Year Award recognises individuals for their contributions to the maritime industry.
The Award was presented to Vikas Khan by Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Executive Vice Chairman of DP World & Group, who sponsored this category at the gala dinner attended by over 1,000 delegates from all sectors of the international maritime community. [05/12/07]
