Singapore: Taiwan-based Evergreen Line is to launch a new Straits-Red Sea Shuttle (SRS) service in mid-May in conjunction with Cosco Container Lines (COSCON). The SRS service is expected to complement the existing joint FRS service between the Far East and the Red Sea, providing vital extra capacity over the important hubs of Singapore and the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia. In a statement, Evergreen said that the new service was "in response to greater demand for capacity between the Red Sea and Asia."
COSCON and Evergreen are both to commit two 1,200 teu vessels to the fixed-day weekly service, which will follow the 28-day rotation :
Singapore - Port of Tanjung Pelepas - Jeddah - Port Sudan - Hodeidah - Singapore. [27/04/07]
