Singapore: Offshore support and shipping services group Ezra Holdings has clinched a four year-charter contract for an FPSO from an unnamed oil major. The contract is worth $265m rising to $397m if a three-year extension is taken up and involves oilfield work in southeast Asia. Brokers report that Ezra is buying the Knutsen FPSO, Kitty Knutsen, to fulfill the contract: the 127,540dwt vessel will undergo conversion work before commencing its contract in 2008. Ezra said it hoped the contract would gwenerate spin-off employment for its crane barges and a pipelaying vessel. Separately it announced a breakthrough into the Indian market with a contract for an Anchor Handling, Towage and Support vessel to work in the Indian offshore industry. [10/10/06]
