The Favoured Customer Contract was signed in Pireaus on 30 May and commits GasLog LNG Services exclusively to the repairs, refurbishment and upgrading of its fleet of 20 LNG carriers at Sembawang Shipyard. GasLog Services has 11 LNG carriers on the water and nine newbuildings on order.
“The selection of Sembawang Shipyard as our exclusive refit partner for our scheduled dry-docking in Singapore is in line with GasLog’s global refit strategy to work towards implementing best practices across GasLog’s entire fleet and thereby optimising repair processes,” said Theodoros Katemidis, general manager, GasLog Services LNG.
“Moreover, we have had many positive experiences with Sembawang Shipyard, which laid the foundation for us to enter into this long-term partnership arrangement with the shipyard.”
On the basis of the contract Sembawang Shipyard expected to refit three to five LNG vessels from GasLog per year.
“Partnering with GasLog LNG Services will not only increase our market share of LNG repairs/upgrading business but will also enhance our capabilities level as a world-class shipyard for LNG carriers’ repairs and upgrades,” said Wong Lee-Lin executive director of Sembawang Shipyard.
Sembawang Shipyard’s parent, Sembcorp Marine is exhibiting at Posidonia 2014 as part of the Singapore Pavillion.
