Greek ordering sets post-crisis high in April

Greek ordering sets post-crisis high in April

Athens: One week to go before Posidonia and there's further evidence why this year's showcase will have its strongest Asian yard presence yet. Latest research from Athens shows that Greek owners ordered a stunning 45 ships worth $1.2bn in April alone. Many owners are taking advantage of the Chinese ship financing now on offer as pasrt of the People's Republic's ongoing shipbuilding stimulus package. Capt Wei Jiafu, boss of Cosco, toured Athens in the middle of this month and noted that his shipyard division had secured contracts for 32 ships from Greece alone.
As ever, Seatrade will be publishing the official show daily newspaper at Posidonia this year with journalists flown in from across the globe to canvass the industry. Special updates will also appear on Seatrade Asia Online and in issue 10 of Seatrade Asia Week.  [31/05/10]
