Hanjin gets the nod for Algeciras

Seoul: The Port of Algeciras, Spain made an announcement on February 9th that Hanjin Shipping had been chosen as the preferred bidder for developing a dedicated terminal in Algeciras, Spain.
The Port of Algeciras located in the South of Spain is the number 1 port in the Mediterranean area handling the largest container cargo volume and capable of accommodating mega vessels of more than 10,000 teu.
Hanjin Shipping's Algeciras terminal, targeted to open in July, 2010, will be 292,000_ equipped with 3 berths in total length of 1,200m. It is expected to handle approximately 1.5 million teu a year.

Park, President & CEO of Hanjin Shipping commented, "Securing a dedicated terminal in Algeciras, Spain neighbouring with Africa will allow us to set forth into the African market where economic growth is expected to come gradually and also to secure an optimum hub port for making our presence in markets such as North Europe, East coast of US and South America."  [11/02/08]
