Hong Kong: Pacific Basin, the Hong Kong handy owner, has announced Richard Hext will resign as Chief Executive Officer on December 31 and will be appointed as a non-executive director, in order to take up a new appointment as Deputy Chairman of the Vanderperre family shipping interests. Deputy CEO Klaus Nyborg will assume the position of CEO, while Jan Rindbo will be appointed as the Chief Operating Officer from Jan 1. Sources in Hong Kong suggest Hext will report to Capt Vanderperre's daughter who is set to take the reins of Univan Shipmanagement come January 1. Capt Vanderperre died this September. As well as controlling around 55 ships under full technical management, he went into tanker owning with Fred Cheng of Shinyo International. [02/12/09]
