Seoul: Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co said that it first-quarter earnings had more than doubled from a year earlier on increased orders for high-priced ships. Net income reached 89.1 billion won (US$95.7 million) in the first three months of the year, compared with 43.5 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing. Sales surged 26.6 per cent to 677 billion won over the cited period, and operating income more than tripled to 89.7 billion won, according to the shipbuilder. [03/05/07]
