ISS receives new crew and workboat for Gulf

Dubai: Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has taken delivery of a new crew and workboat, named Inchcape 23, built in the UK. The vessel will now be carried as deck cargo out to the UAE, to join the 16-strong ISS launch fleet there. From May onwards she will be used to ferry equipment and spares as well as crewmembers, superintendents, ISS Agency staff and other personnel to and from ships, rigs and offshore installations.

"The Inchcape 23 will be a welcome addition to the Middle East fleet," said Chris Stone, Executive Vice President - Middle East & India. "We plan to put her to good use supporting our marine services activities in the Gulf region."

The vessel was built by Lyme Boats of Exeter and is classed with Lloyd's Register. With an overall length of 22.50 metres, the aluminium vessel is powered by twin 670 BHP Caterpillar diesels and operates at a service speed of 22 knots. She has a personnel carrying capacity of 23 and can carry 25 tons of cargo on her after deck. [08/04/10]
