Mumbai: Indian conglomerate, Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T), has the funding and government clearance to proceed with the first phase of a shipyard-cum-port complex at Kattupalli near Ennore, Tamil Nadu, costing Rs3,375 crore. The yard will be India's biggest, L&T officials claim. Last month, the company won its first ship orders, 36 high-speed interceptor vessels for the Indian Coast Guard. Beyond naval vessels, L&T is aiming to build tankers, gas carriers and even cruise ships at the yard. [27/04/10]
