Lines seek $400 box rate increase on transpac

Oakland: Container lines are aiming for a $400 per feu increase on the transpacific trade next year. Members of the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement are seeking a $400 per increase from 1 may for shipments from Asia to the US West Coast and $600 per feu for all other cargo. TSA also recommended a peak season surcharge of $400 per feu from 15 June to 30 November next year. "The transpacific market is clearly returning to some kind of 'normality', with the U.S. and Asian economies still closely linked and imports from Asia still vital to US consumers and businesses," said YM Kim, TSA chairman and ceo of Hanjin Shipping.
