The rig, Marco Polo’s first jack-up rig is scheduled to be delivered in fourth quarter of 2015 and built to the PPL Pacific Class design.
Marco Polo ceo Sean Lee sees the move as major move forward for the company and said: “The signing of the agreement with PPL Shipyard is an epochal moment as it marks the start of a significant leap forward in terms of our operations and service offerings.
Explaining the timing of the move Lee added, “The group’s entry into this business segment coupled with the expected delivery of the rig in fourth quarter of 2015 is timely in view of the favourable demand-supply dynamics."
