Sydney: The port of Newcastle, the world's largest coal export facility, is back to normal after a planned maintenance last week though queue time for ships is still on the up. Coal exports jumped 40% after suffering a five month low.
Exports at the world's biggest coal export terminal for the week ended April 9 rose to about 1.464 million tonnes, Newcastle Port Corporation (NPC) data showed on Wednesday.
Ship arrivals rose to 19 coal vessels, up from 12 ships the previous week, though queues blew out to a record-level of 71 ships.
The average waiting time for ships at the port rose to 27 days, a new high, up from 26 days from the previous week. [11/04/07]
