NYK orders heavylift pair from Nanjing Jingling Shipyard

NYK has ordered two new heavy lift vessels from Nanjing Jingling Shipyard as it seeks to leverage on business such as wind turbine blade cargoes.

The vessels ordered by NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers, the only owner and operator of heavy lift vessels in Japan, will be equipped with two 400-ton cranes and capable of lifting cargoes of up to 800 tons.

The vessels will feature 95 metre holds without bulkheads and with the bridge placed at the front of the vessel both large and tall cargoes can be loaded without impacting navigation.

The vessels are designed to meet in advance the EEDI phase three requirements that become effective in 2025.
