Tokyo: Oshima Shipbuilding plans to introduce a goliath crane with a hoisting capacity of 1,200 tons at its construction dock (535 x 80 meters) in June 2008, a company official revealed to the Kaiji Press. Moreover, Oshima expects to complete the reclamation of about 48,000 sq m seawater surface this year. The yard will then build a sub-assembly plant and a coating factory. The aim is to be able to churn out up to 48 handymaxes come fiscal 2009, up from last year's 11. The long term goal is to crack 60 ship constructions a year. [29/08/07]
