Singapore: International offshore drilling contractor Seadrill has secured unconditional Letters of Award for six-year contracts for three newbuild deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs, the West Eminence, West Taurus and West Orion, currently under construction at Jurong and Samsung shipyards. Upon finalisation, the contracts with Brazil's Petroleo Brasileiro are expected to bring in a total revenue of approximately $4.1bn (Including mobilization fee and five percent performance bonus) over 18 rig years.
The West Taurus and West Orion (artists impression pictured) are both under construction at the Jurong shipyard in Singapore and are slated for delivery in the fourth quarter 2008 and second quarter 2010 respectively. The West Taurus is expected to begin operations the first quarter 2009, while the West Orion is scheduled to launch operations in the third quarter 2010.
