The FSO Alisa was christened at Sembmarine’s Tuas Boulevard Yard for MODEC, Total, BP and JX Nippon.
The 430,000 barrel condensate capacity FSO Alisa is the first newbuild FSO constructed by Sembmarine and is designed to have double the average hull lifespan at 40 years. The hull lifespan has been verified by classification society DNV GL.
The yard said the longer hull allows the vessel to withstand harsher and more extreme environmental conditions, such as rogue waves, corrosion, large ambient temperature variation and thunderstorms.
The FSO will be deployed in the Culzean Field in the UK North Sea and can operate for 25-years without drydocking.
“The successful completion of FSO Ailsa demonstrates that we are now supporting the energy, offshore and marine value chain with a broader and deeper suite of innovative solutions,” said Wong Weng Sun, president of Sembmarine at the naming ceremony.
Sateesh Dev, president & ceo of MODEC Offshore Production Systems (Singapore) said, “FSO Ailsa, the 46th floating unit MODEC has accomplished for the offshore oil and gas production industry, represents a significant milestone for us as it is the first one we have built for the North Sea oil and gas sector.”
