Tehran: Iran's second home-made oceangoing ship named 'Iran Arak' will be launched in the southern waters of the country today in a ceremony to be attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The ship was made by Iranian experts and at the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO). ?The ship, which is 30 meters wide, 185 meters long, 18 meters high and weighs more than 7,000 tons, is capable of carrying 30,000 tons of cargo. ?Also, another Iran-made oceangoing ship named 'Iran Alborz' is due to be dispatched to its first mission tomorrow. Iran Alborz, which is capable of carrying 2,200 containers, weighs around 20,000 tons. [20/08/09]?
