Singapore box volumes rise in February
Singapore: Container throughput at the port of Singapore climbed 9.3% year-on-year in February, according to statistics from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

February volumes were recorded at 2.35m teu, an increase from 2.15m teu posted in February 2011, figures from MPA showed. Month-on-month, throughput dropped 7.8% from 2.54m teu in January 2012.

In the first two months of this year, Singapore handled 4.89m teu of containers.

Singapore was ranked the second largest container port with 29.9m teu of throughput, lagging behind the leader Shanghai with 31.74m teu.
